A simple observation of the garden table. Making a video like this can be a great way to remember simple details we may otherwise eventually forget. You can also use videos, like this, as a writing tool. How? Well, describe what is happening in the video. Describe the component parts of the scene; what is happening? What colours do you see? What shapes are present? How would you describe light and shade? What would you say to convey movement? Can you be descriptive about textures? Who might be drinking the ale? Are other people due to sit at the table? What is their story?

An exercise like that can help us to enrich our descriptive language, or trigger ideas, when writing.
